Abstract

Among the many faces of the new social history is the study of mentalities, imprecise nebulas, which are, as Le Goff said, in the "residues of historical analysis". One of those residues is the ritual, always the same, always repeated, but that encloses the value systems of a society rooted in beliefs. To understand them, it is necessary to resort to social psychology, which finds that the behavior of one and the other is the same, that can measure behaviors that result in a conglomerate of facts, which, analyzed have the effect of showing a mentality.
