La participación en la vida cultural de los afrobolivianos residentes en la ciudad de La Paz

Abstract

Los afrobolivianos residentes en la ciudad de La Paz se distinguen entre sí: algunos han nacido y vivido hasta su juventud en los Yungas y luego han emigrado a la ciudad de La Paz; otros han nacido en ésta y tienen como cultura fundamental la citadina. Quienes han emigrado a La Paz, a través de su participación en la vida cultural, en sus prácticas culturales propias, son los protagonistas centrales en la continuidad de su pueblo en la ciudad. Ellos portan la cultura madre de su pueblo y la comparten con los citadinos, que la aprenden principalmente a través de su participación en la saya y en los seminarios y encuentros que se integran con ella; así quienes han nacido en la ciudad forjan en sí una afrobolivianidad identitaria y cultural, contribuyendo también a la continuidad de su pueblo en la ciudad.Afro-Bolivians residing in the city of La Paz differ among themselves: some were born and lived in the Yungas until their youth and then emigrated to the city of La Paz; others were born in the city and have urban culture as their fundamental culture. Those who have emigrated to La Paz, through their participation in cultural life and their own cultural practices, are the central protagonists in the continuity of their people in the city. They carry the mother culture of their people and share it with city dwellers, who learn it mainly through their participation in saya and the seminars and gatherings that integrate with it; thus those born in the city forge an identity and cultural Afro-Bolivianness in themselves, also contributing to the continuity of their people in the city.
