La legitima es la parte de la herencia que por disposición de la ley, se reserva a cierta clase de herederos llamados forzosos o legitimarios. Diremos entonces que la legitima constituye una limitación a la libertad de testador, teniendo herederos forzosos, el causante solamente puede disponer de sus bienes en su manifestación de su última voluntad respetando los límites de la porción que la ley tiene reservada a esta clase de herederos Legitimacy is the part of the inheritance that by law provision, reserves to a certain class of heirs called forced or legitimate.
